Collé and VDL NedCar: A MAXImum score for MINI

NedCar is a familiar term in Limburg and all around the Dutch motor vehicle industry. They were taken over in 2012 by VDL and production immediately switched to the manufacture of MINIs. Collé acted as preferred suppliers during the setting up of the new MINI production lines. A uniquely challenging project where Collé Rental and Sales played an important role with one of the most advanced vehicle manufacturers in Europe.

Quick and efficient

As preferred suppliers to VDL NedCar we supplied more than 100 machines to VDL businesses and the contractors on site. The aims of the project included the conversion of the factory and the setting up of VDL NedCar's new production lines. We supplied a comprehensive package of machinery including rotating telescopic fork lifts, telescopic and articulated mobile elevating work platforms, scissor lifts and accommodation units. In order to provide the machinery required by the contractors on site quickly and efficiently we introduced an innovative system making it simple to change the hirer of a machine on site, so contributing significantly to the timely handover of the total project.

Temporary accommodation

In order to guarantee the availability of this extensive machine fleet we temporarily relocated an equipment and service department to the VDL NedCar site. We provided the contractors with advice on a daily basis and provided servicing and maintenance on site. We also handled the regular and preventative maintenance of the machines, with the aim of avoiding breakdowns as far as possible. And where the situation required it we were always available on site within 30 minutes to carry out servicing. As well as our involvement with the construction of the various installations we also provided temporary accommodation, including the power supplies, heating and tools for the various contractors. These fully furnished accommodation units were provided with every convenience to provide the contractors with outstanding working locations from where they could coordinate their activities.

The MINIs are now rolling off the production line, a welcome boost for the business community in Limburg, for the automobile industry in the Netherlands and for the future prospects of the former NedCar.
