Second Coentunnel

Collé Rental and Sales assist in the construction of the second Coen Tunnel.

The Coenplein interchange and the linked Coen Tunnel have been in the "Top Ten Traffic Bottlenecks" in the Netherlands for many years. With around 100,000 vehicles using the interchange daily this was sufficient motivation for the Directorate for Public Works and Water Management to take steps to resolve the problem. The chosen solution was the construction of a second Coen Tunnel. To avoid simply moving the problem elsewhere the roads around the Coen Tunnel have also been modified. The construction of the second Coen Tunnel is among the largest infrastructure projects ever carried out in the Netherlands. Collé Rental and Sales made a successful contribution to the construction of the tunnel.

A reliable partner

Collé Rental and Sales provided mobile equipment, a range of machinery including telescopic fork lifts, mobile elevating work platforms and forklift trucks, as well as the necessary expertise. We also supplied the articulated telescopic mobile elevating work platforms, forklift trucks, generators and containers used in the offsite fabrication of the tunnel elements in Barendrecht. The construction work on the tunnel and the associated slip roads was carried out under strict conditions with the aim of minimising the impact on traffic as far as possible. The construction work included the fabrication of four gigantic tunnel elements, each 178 metres in length.

100% availability

Collé successfully delivered 100% availability of our machines. Before delivering them to site we subjected the various types of telescopic handling and height access machines to extensive servicing and user testing. We also provided spare machines in advance, for use in the event of unexpected circumstances. We proved ourselves to be a partner able to think along with the client and provide genuine quality.
